When I watched the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night, it was the first time I’d seen The Weeknd perform, and oh how I fell in love! The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has a soulful sound that reminded me of the late, great Michael Jackson – an opinion I’ve learnt many others feel too. Performing his newest song, Can’t Feel My Face, I now understand what the hype is all about, because The Weeknd is pretty damn good! I really adore his vocal tone & abilities, and the beat of this song is funky but still very chill. In the music video it shows that he is also quite the dancer. Since listening to his live performance at the VMAs, I’ve taken to Tidal to listen to more of his music and am very much enjoying this artist. I also had heard Ellie Goulding’s cover of High For This, and am surprised at myself for not listening to the original before now.
